Ever wondered how to get started in the film and television industry? Careers in Screen is an informative and interactive audience led event for Transition Year-6th year students, which aims to highlight the wide variety of career paths available in film and television. The event will explore the nature of filmmaking as a career and the different skill sets involved, and take a deeper look at the screen industry in Ireland.
Experienced speakers will discuss their own experiences working in the screen sector and give an insight into the collaborative process of film production.
The event will also look at screen developments in the region and how best to get involved.

MIKE BOLAND Studio Manager Troy Studios Troy Studios is Ireland’s newest & largest studio facility located in Limerick, Recent productions include ‘Nightflyers’ and Apple TV ‘Foundation’ Ireland’s Largest Ever Production, Employing 500+ People
MARK MAHER is CEO, Founder and Creative Director at Odyssey Studios. He has brought 17 years of international experience in the industry as a Concept, Lead or Head Model Maker to Odyssey Studios which he started to bring world class model making to the world. His credits include The Hobbit (The Battle of the Five Armies, The Desolation of Smaug and An Unexpected Journey), Alice Through the Looking Glass, Penny Dreadful and Into the Badlands to name a few. He can be seen building miniature cities, spaceships, Apes, Aliens, Zombies, Dinosaurs and more.
EIMEAR O'MAHONY-Executive Producer Children's & Young People's Content RTÉ has been in RTÉ for 20 years. Over that time she has worked in Sport, Current Affairs, Irish Language and Entertainment. She has produced documentaries, Winning Streak, Up for The Match, Electric Picnic and the Late Late Toy Show in 2018. She joined Young People's Programmes in 2019 as an Executive Producer.
SIMON MCGUIRE is a Professional Editor and Camera Operator with extensive Digital and Broadcast experience in television post-production. Simon’s broadcast editing experience has been on a number of Irish broadcast programmes over the past two decades, including Pat Shortt’s ‘Killinaskully’, and ‘Mattie’ comedies as well as RTÉ’s ‘Nationwide’ and TV3’s (Virgin Media Television) Ireland AM, News, Sports and current affairs programming.Simon has also worked on feature documentaries and short films. Simon is also a lecturer in the craft of editing with Limerick School of Art and Design, Technological University of the Shannon and is developing his own post-production house ‘Craft’ in Limerick.
