Elements of Fresh – Fresh Education

Learn about film and try film with your students

So much to learn about film in the classroom and out of the classroom

Fresh Film has a long history in education in the formal and non-formal sectors. Arising from its earliest Ireland’s Schools Video Competition event, Fresh has developed special programmes to support and encourage children and young people to think about and make films in classrooms and clubs.

Included in the education strand of Fresh’s programme is You Judge It, a special Peer Jury classroom project where students aged 7 and up view, discuss and select their favourite international film made by a young person. You Judge it screeners are delivered online for schools and groups and are a great way to start a film programme.

Fresh Film School is a series of short segments that can guide a class through the process of making your first film. These are available here (ADD LINK TO THE SERIES)

From study guides to accompany feature screenings to Peer made tutorials on aspects of filmmaking Fresh Resources are available to schools and groups to support their filmmaking.

If your school or group wants to celebrate film, Fresh hosts a Young Programmer series where students can learn all about making their own screening event and festival. Colleges and Festivals share their top tips and insights with students who will be the next generation of festival programmers.

Fresh is delighted to partner with institutions and industry in delivering these programmes including the Irish Film Institute, The MA in Festive Arts at UL, IADT and The Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival
