What HotHouse Offers You:

Expert Mentorship: You’ll work online with experienced film mentors from all across Ireland. They will guide you through every step of the filmmaking process, sharing their expertise to help you polish your project.

Film Funding: HotHouse provides a €1,000 grant to fund your short film. This money can cover equipment, actors, locations, and anything else you need to bring your vision to life.

Prestigious Premiere: Your finished film will have its premiere at the prestigious Dublin International Film Festival (DIFF)! Imagine seeing your work on the big screen at a real film festival.

National Broadcast: On the same day as the DIFF premiere, your film will also be available to watch on RTÉ Player under “Fresh Screens,” making it accessible to a wide audience across Ireland.
How to Get Involved in the HotHouse Program:
Your journey begins by entering the Ireland’s Young Filmmaker of the Year competition, run by Fresh Film. From the entries, potential HotHouse participants are selected. Every competition entrant gets the chance to write a “treatment” for a short film (the topic varies each year; for instance, “Home” was a recent theme) – think of it as your movie’s blueprint. You’ll also participate in a helpful scriptwriting masterclass.
A panel of film experts and representatives from Fresh Film then chooses eight talented young filmmakers to join the HotHouse program.
