Elements of Fresh – Fresh Productions

MAKE MOVIES

If you want to make a film for the first time or have made a few films and would like a more advanced experience, Fresh offers a number of opportunities to get involved in production. Fresh partners with a wide range of organisations and bodies including Percent for Art, the Ombudsman for Children, Limerick Youth Service, LCETB Creative Youth Partnership and RTÉ to offer these programmes, some projects are regional and some are national.

Fresh Blood is a horror film production that takes place in Limerick during the Autumn mid term as a fun introduction to filmmaking through the horror genre. Usually filmed on location, this is a hands-on approach to learning about filmmaking.

Hothouse was created to encourage advanced young filmmakers who wish to pursue a career in film

The Fresh Film Squad is a rotating crew where young people learn to document events and create non-fiction films. The crew is assembled on an adhoc basis when an opportunity arises to shoot on the move. Broadcast, documentary and mobile filmmakers mentor the squad during the production period.

The Hothouse project is an annual development programme supported by RTE.
Each Hothouse develops its structure to respond to the needs of its participants and over the years it has produced a short, a series of pieces for Kidspeak broadcast, a collection short films with the Ombudsman for Children, hosted directors and screenwriters masterclasses with multi award winning filmmakers representing the elite in Irish film and has mentored and funded short films made by young people.
